Economic Development

The Town of Larkspur has experienced a growth spurt in the last couple of years. With the purchase of two key development areas on Upper Lake Gulch and the purchase of the Jellystone Camp Grounds, the expansion of the Town’s infrastructure has came to the forefront. For current development information please go to the Planning Department page.

Larkspur is just a few Smiles down the road centrally located between the state’s two population centers, approximately 35 miles from Denver and 35 miles from Colorado Springs.

Residents and businesses value the rural lifestyle and scenic beauty of the area while fostering its landscapes, wildlife, and outdoor recreation opportunities. Both Bear Dance and Perry Park Golf Courses are surrounded by affluent rural neighborhoods. Consistently rated as Colorado’s best, and most challenging public golf course, Bear Dance is home of the Colorado PGA.

With easy access from Interstate 25  (exit 172 N and exit 173 S), Larkspur is an ideal location for anyone seeking the serenity of the foothills while still having excellent transportation routes to and from Denver or Colorado Springs. Local sales tax is a low 4% making Larkspur an affordable place for retail businesses.

Protected open space surrounds the community creating hiking, biking and horseback riding opportunities at Spruce Mountain, Spruce Meadows, Greenland Ranch and Dawson Butte, and the Community Park offers family recreation for all ages and interests.

Larkspur features a small town, Americana lifestyle, popular with those who want proximity to a large metropolitan area, but who want the benefits of a small, rural community.
